Seminar ‘Russia and Europe: challenges and opportunities of co-operation in the new reality’

On 23 June, OSW hosted the seminar ‘Russia and Europe: challenges and opportunities of co-operation in the new reality’. The event was co-organised by Yegor Gaidar Foundation from Russia.

The issues discussed during the meeting were the key socio-economic processes taking place in the European Union and Russia since the end of the 20th century and opportunities offered by the EU-Russia dialogue. The discussion was preceded by the show of the film The Costs of the 1990s (directed by Alexey Pivovarov) outlining the problem of Russian market reforms under Boris Yeltsin’s rule.

The participants of the panel discussions were: Rafał Antczak, member of the board of directors of Deloitte Consulting SA, Evgeny Gontmakher, deputy director of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Andrey Nechaev, Minister of Economy of the Russian Federation in 1992-1993, Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, director of the Open Europe programme at the Stefan Batory Foundation, Dmitry Travin, professor of economy at the European University at Saint Petersburg, Ernest Wyciszkiewicz, director of the Centre for Polish-Russian Dialogue and Understanding, Marta Jaroszewicz, an expert from OSW and Viktor Yaroshenko, editor-in-chief of the magazine Vestnik Evropy.
