On 11 March in Brussels a seminar entitled "Why Do Eastern Partnership Countries Matter to the EU?", organised by the Centre for Eastern Studies and Carnegie Europe with the support of the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the EU, took place. The seminar’s guests were experts from both the European Union countries and the Eastern Partnership states.
The seminar was divided into three panels. During the first panel the discussions focused on the possible choice for the Partnership states between European and Eurasian integration. The second was devoted to finding answers to the questions of openness of the EU in the times of economic crisis and the methods of preventing the loss of interest on the part of the Eastern societies. The final panel’s discussions concentrated on the issue of challenges and shortcomings of the Eastern Partnership.
